Diary - November 2023

November 1, 2023

Today I feel very awkward. Halloween was yesterday, but I still feel like TODAY is Halloween. I still have the load of candy. Here is me being interviewed about her favorite types of candy:

MOM: What are your favorite types of candy\chocolate?

ME: Reese's chocolate buttercups, Airheads Taffy, and KitKats. 

MOM: Why do like them?

ME: Reese's are peanut butter filled, Airheads are very chewy and flavory, Kit Kats have a variety of different flavors.

Those Chocolates and Taffy companies are everybody's personal favorite.

Today we have my aunt and uncle (technically they haven't graduated college yet, so don't think of them as some people like 45-55 years old) . They came over when I had chess class, so I felt a little sad that I had to say hi when I was having a chess class. At dinner, Dad told me that they were supergood coders and had gigantic computers that are super strong and have this weird thing called a GPU inside it and is is probably as big as my refrigerator!!

Today I made a big big big big big x1000 bigger mistake. The mistake was: I accidentally told my teacher that my dad hits me a lot. I should've kept my big fat mouth shut, because I accidentally told this to dad. Then, mom came out screaming. I didn't mean to say it to my teacher, and everybody was screaming at me, so I just sat there. And started crying. I held myself together till the end, and then started crying again. I am sad. Very sad. And I don't know what to do to make the situation better.

Dad later told me he could be sent away for this. And when I say send away, I don't mean the business trip kind, I mean the never-see-me-again type. And I didn't want to never see my dad again, so I started crying, cause I knew I was hopeless-no chance of seeing my dad ever again. 

November 4, 2023

Today I went swimming at 8:00 for the first time! I was excited, but also scared (I was scared of the really dirty stuff and that maybe lifeguards didn't clean the pool) .

When me and dad got there, I jumped into the water and searched for flakes of dirty stuff. Thankfully, there weren't so many. Then, I started swimming laps. It was just like normal, except there weren't as many people. Me and dad then had a race. I won!   C===(￣▽￣*)===D

I think tomorrow I would like to do this again, just to see how it feels again, and to get the hang of this. Also, this does technically counts as one point. ~(=^u^)ノ

Today dad gave me a deal for swimming even when my stomach hurt: 30 mins to play after I do three things. I was supa happy! I rushed as fast as lightning to do chess. Then, I read 20 mins of books, and <BAM> I was playing games with my brother, Kyle. 

In the afternoon, I was kinda irresponsible and forgot to do this. So, dad charged me up and told me to do some diaries. So here I am! Doing stuff. ◑﹏﹏◐

In "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix", Harry in his fourth year of Hogwarts, has claimed that Voldemort is back, so they form a group of people called the Order. It is to protect Harry from Voldemort. At Hogwarts, a new defence against the dark arts teacher appears. She later on is moved on to Hogwarts high inquisitor, and annoys every single teacher except Snape, and allows only Slytherin to practice Quidditch, the flying game where you score points, and presents Harry, Fred, and George a lifelong ban from Quidditch. Will the new defense against teacher every leave? Will Harry be able to play Quidditch? Will Voldemort ever be defeated?

Today I am at my chess class (or the secret "chess tournament" our coach was secretly having. I had to play against Kyle, my brother! Of course, I am older than him, and therefore smarter than him. I first took his bishop, then his pawn, then his rook! I took all of his pieces one by one by one. Then, I checkmated him with a queen and a rook! 

In the second round, I was white. This time nobody was up, so I got a little bored. I took my taken pawn and aimed it at another board. I threw the pawn and it hit the king! I helped the person win! Now, Kyle wanted to do what I was doing, and threw a pawn and hit king and queen, but the coach saw that and made Kyle automatically lose. Lesson learned-don't follow others if it is the wrong thing to do.

Today I had a soccer game in the RAIN with Coach Mario. His expectations were also pretty high. I arrived a little late (kind of my fault) , so when I got there, it was already warm-ups. I did it pretty well, and moved on to the drill. The drill was:

Today I have a chess game. I am very scared about it. All of the other opponents have ratings higher than 900, while my rating is 856 only! I was paired against someone that is 1159! oh my god oh my god oh my god!! I can't play this! But, game review said I played pretty well in the opening and middlegame! I even won a bishop! But, in the endgame, I lost everything and I lost my rook and the other side had all they're pieces and they checkmated me in 5 moves!!             ┗|｀O′|┛ p==(╬▔皿▔)  (⊙﹏⊙)   (*>﹏<*)′    ╚(•⌂•)╝      (￣ε(￣) b     o(￣皿￣)o

Today I had a soccer training with coach Mario again! I was on time this time, and I did good in the activation. Then, we did a little warm up, and then to the drill! The drill was first a 1 v 2, then when someone scores or someone gets the ball out, it becomes a 3 v 2. Our team mostly lost, due to lack of confidence and teamwork. Then we did a little scrimmage. Our team lost. We got scored on 5+ times, they got scored on <5 times.

Today I played video games with mom and Kyle! Me and Kyle were playing children of Morta, a video game, when mom came. To be nice, I let her play mario kart with me and kyle. I always got first place (I got skills), Kyle got a steady 4th place (he is kind of annoyed) and mom? Well, she improved. She first got 11th, then 12th, then 9th, then 6th. At least in the 50th percentile!

What makes me so good? Well, I don't actually know! I think I just have the skill. I can successfully throw a shell and hit the person (90% of the time) , I can dodge stuff, and I know all the secret passageways that make you go faster. But, I have the worst luck in the family! I NEVER get megastars, I NEVER get "Bullet Bobs", and I NEVER get super mushrooms!

Today I am writing diary with a permanent marker! I like how this looks like my actual handwriting. This also is supa fun, because one word takes up A TOOOOON of space! I like this! And also, today we also went buying skies and poles and boots. The poles were really hard to pick. should I get adjustable ones or just normal? well, normal, because it is stronger and it is a lot more cooler!

Today I am super excited! I am 4th place in my chess division online! You have to play chess games to earn trophies/points to get up into defferent leagues. So far I'm in silver, and about to  go into crystal in 5 days. I can't wait! Also, There are a lot of leagues. There is wood, stone, bronze, silver, crystal, elite, champion, and legend. That is a lot of leagues to go through!

Today I went to chess class with my brother Kyle. We were having the last chess games of the secret tournament, and the winner gets one colored king, one colored queen, and colored pawns. Second place gets a colored queen and two, pawns, and that goes for third, too. Everybody else gets two pawns. I got first, and my brother Kyle got second! I'm so happy!

Today I have another soccer class. I was so early that I thought I was late! Coach Sam was really proud of me that I didn't get late again! The class started out with a 8v8, and then it was a shielding drill! I was super good at it! Then, it became 5v5v6. Whoever scores a goal first stays on, and the opposing team switches with the team that wasn't playing. It was so fun!

Today I am at my chess class online. I was grabbing a few pretzels and tuning in the class. I answered all the questions correctly. Then, in the playing part, I won this guy called GoldenNinja123456. Cool username! I think I should change mine to something called "$u$Din064" or "#DUHPENZIL". But, anyway, I was winning from the start. more space, extra bishop, then lost it, then won pawn and rook, then won other rook, then won both knights, then won the queen, then won the bishop with checkmate!

Today I may have had the worst soccer class ever. Not all of us were listening, and only 25% of us were really focused and hardworking. I was one of them. 

In the drill, it was a drill that to win, you have to take one touch in the box, then touch out. It tested my first touch a LOT. You can't just one touch out. If you don't have a good first touch, you won't get out on the box in time. You have to little touch, then EXPLODING touch out. I won the first match, and lost the second. But, in the scrimmage, I had to be striker... I GOT 3 GOALS ALL WITH MY LEFT FOOT!! AWESOME!

In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Harry, Hermione, and Ron skip their last year of school and go chasing for horcruxes. They need to destroy them in order to defeat Voldemort. The first 3 horcruxes were already destroyed-The Slytherin locket, Marvolo Gaunt's Ring, and Voldemort's diary. A horcrux is a object that holds a piece of somebody's soul. Then, Harry and Hermione (Ron drops out) eventually destroy all of them, But WILL Harry defeat Voldemort? Will Ron be his friend again? Will Ginny every kiss him???

NOvember 19 

Yesterday I went playing with Lucas. I first used his RC car to jump my homemade ramp, then after his RC car's part broke off in a jump, we raced each other on Lucas's bike. I used the purple one. It's a mountain bike that goes insanely fast and with insane less amount of energy. Lucas also offered $200 for the bike. Already, what a great deal! I think I can worm it to 150 dollars. I'm very persuasive!

Today I got this really annoying thing in my hair. It sticks all of my hair together, and it hurts when I touch it. I think it's clay of mud of something. Good news is that I'm on king 94, and super close to getting the new computer! Dad is getting me a MacBook Air, Silver, 13" screen ("=inch) , and all mine! YEAH!! o(*￣u￣*)o

Also, we're closer to the ski+snowboard (I'm snowboarding at school, Skiing at home) season. I can't wait to go jumping at central park, or going in the woods at Silver Fir! YEAAAAAHOO!

Today I read chapter 17 in "Americana-a 400 year history about america", which is the chapter about unions.

In Chicago, Cyrus McCormick's Factory employees were again asking to have better working conditions and shorter hours. McCormick (MC) got tired of this, and fired them. But, the group soon formed into the Knights of Labor and United Metal Workers. The Knights of Labor (KL) soon, in 1883, had over 52,000 members, and were ready to get on strike. They soon persuaded Messenger boys, train officials, construction workers, farmers, and lots of other workers to quit and go on strike. Uh-oh!

A newspaper told lots of workers to stop working (that weren't already stopping) on May 1st, 1884. On that day, a speech was held right next to the MC factory. At that time, the shift for MC's factory was over, and all the old workers charged in. 6 people were shot and killed my the police. 

The story then goes to Henry Clay Frick (HCF) , the leader of a coke factory. He had to shut his factory down because he fired all his men. The workers were over 12,000 people, and they fired on HCF's private army. The army was overpowered, and forced to surrender. Then, the state of Pennsylvania sent federal troops to open the HCF factory again! Soon, the workers were back!

Today I went to Lucas's house with his friend Jet. Jet is chinese, but he does 6th grade math, which I also do. Sometimes I do 7th, but mostly 6th. His friend played Roblox, then played Freddy's pizza place. It was super creepy. Then, we watched the peacock video about it. Technically a movie. Then, we got home, and we found MY NEW COMPUTER that I completely detest. It is a 15 inch screen that I don't like. I requested in person that I wanted a 13.5 computer, But dad is bad, and buys me a 15''.

November 23, 2023

Today is Thanksgiving! I invited Ru-shan and Ru-song and Vincent and Lucas and Summer and Gram and tuan tuan and Lucas-without-glasses. That makes ten people in total! We first went to Odle middle school. I did a 3v3 against dad, Lucas-Without-Glasses(LWG), and Kyle. We scored 10+ goals. When we got back home, we played Ultimate Kirby Clash, then played Ultimate Chicken Horse. FUN!

I also read about a chapter in Americana, called PAPERS. Basically newspapers, this chapter is about a few low ranked people who eventually rose up to buy newspapers like the NEW YORK TIMES or MORNING NY NEWS. That shows that if you work hard and aim at the bull's eye, you eventually will hit the gold!

Today I went to watch the "CHRISTMAS" Parade. It was really fun, and I felt very happy that I got a lollipop! I later tasted it, and it was a good old fashioned PEPPERMINT. I like it, but not my favorite. After the Parade, Me, Grandma, Mom, Dad, and Kyle went to the mall to look for cool stuff. I found a really cool EX Pokemon card pack, but I couldn't get it. Kyle found a Hot Wheel, Grandma went who-knows-where, Mom went kitchen shopping, and dad just watched over me and Kyle. After mom was done shopping and we found grandma, we jumped into the car and drove all the way home!

Today I read a chapter of Americana. It's about food and drugs and how the Government stopped people from pretending to make foods like meat using rotten meat. It all started with a patient who got stomach issues. He went to a Battle Fort, where it was made into a makeshift spa, but it functioned like a hospital. The owner, John Harvey Kellogg, insisted on using natural foods to cure illnesses. He also mostly let the body cure itself, and he always minimized the use of drugs, if ever used. 

The patient was really impressed, so he tried to copy this. He first made a product called GRAPE NUTS, which were supposed to cure you, but they weren't made out of Grapes or Nuts (kind of a good thing, because some people are allergic to nuts). Eventually, both the patient and John became the most talented cornflakes maker in the state!

The story then goes to John Pemberton (JB) , a man that lived in Atlanta. He was interested in the drug making industry. He tried to use mixed wine and cola, then added the African Kola nut, and the drink because known as COCA-COLA (ever heard of it lol) ! Eventually, JB got tired of paying all the the taxes because his product was a drug, so he made it into a beverage.*

A lot of people from countries in Europe wanted to come to America, mostly to not starve. Unlike people who came from Ireland, they didn't know how to speak english. Unlike people in Germany, they didn't have an education or money to start life with. Work conditions were really bad for them. Very little air conditioning was supplied. They ate everything in a very smelly mess hall, and had very little sleep time. 

Some people, to earn more money, meat packers took every part of the body and sold them. Some of those parts of the dead animal were rotten, and those parts were shipped to states such as Indiana to make into meat. The restaurant chefs added spices to the rotten animal parts, and sold to people as MEAT! The Government took notice, and made a Administration called Food and Drug Administration. It tests all of the products that you invent so that there are no more conplains. If your product is illegal, you could be sent to jail, so be careful!!

Today me, dad, and Kyle went to play soccer. We first did a 2v1, then a 1v1v1, then a 3v0 (bra). That part was fun. We then practiced left foot shooting. I was always the best, dad second, and Kyle third. Then we practiced left foot passing. I was told to go super easy on Kyle, so I just touched the ball toward him. But bad things happened after we went to the other side! We did a 1v1v1 again, then a 2v1. I was the defender, and dad started charging toward me. he snowplowed me, smashed my thigh, and made me get a face full of turf. That gave me a mental sticky-note: NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER go in front of dad when he is run full speed towards you. Immediately run or leap to the side;never stay, run at him, or run backwards! 

This is what I read about the chapter automobiles in Americana. Since the automobile was first invented in the late 1800's, more people have been trying to develop a cheaper, better type of car. Henry Ford does that. He first made the Model A, then the Model B, C, F, and finally, the famous Model T. It was the cheapest, fastest, most durable car of all of them. Henry Ford eventually became the founder of Ford, a car company named after him.

Today I learned that in the great depression (lasted 1929 - 1939/one decade) , 1930 the Bank of United States failed to pay back the depositors money, and became bankrupted. After the Bank of United States (BUS) failed, many other banks also followed to FAIL. The BUS was one of the bigger type banks and was a member of the Federal Reserve.*If a bank like that could fail, any bank that wasn't in the Federal Reserve (FR) would Fail. And this did happen. Over 9000 banks went bankrupt and over $7 billion was lost as depositors assets. (O___O)--q

 The Federal Reserve (FR) is a link between banks to lend each other some money so they don't go BANKRUPT for a BANK.

Today I read the chapter about films in Americana. The very first theater (then recorded to make a film) was made from MGM, a filming company. They were recording a film called "Gone With the Wind", and after my googling, it shows that it's about two people falling in love (AGAIN??? Brah, you're just stealing ideas! I like Mario a lot better) in the confederate war-anyway, the casters estimated the film to be over $2 million, maybe $3 million! But, the movie was so good that over 500,000 copies were sold, making it very famous. BUT. Remember Disney? Well, Walt Disney also was ready to make films. But not with people with CARTOONS! And instead of theater filming, the whole idea was to hire designers to DRAW THE CARTOONS! Also, the film was Mickey Mouse, then Snow White. Snow White cost a lot of money, but it was a world class hit! It sold over $8 Million in the first year ONLY! 

I think Mario should have been here, but Mario was created in the 1980s. SAD.

Today I read the chapter in Americana called "FLIGHT". Now, you probably would start picturing the Wright Brothers, but this chapter is about Germans invading Czechoslovakia and Henry Ford going into the airplane industry to defeat Nazis. 

The first part is about how Charles Lindbergh flew over the Atlantic. After, he comes back as a hero. He immigrants to Europe, where because of his German-Sounding name, goes there and is a hero. Germans tell him a ton of things about them, like factories, new planes, and merchandise. But after Germany invaded Czechoslovakia, they left and told everybody about the planes and factories that Germans were making. 

After Germany invaded Czechoslovakia, this became known as the beginning of World War II! Americans became involved when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. Americans in 1941, made 48,000 planes, 2,000 less than what Roosevelt expected. In the next year, America made 100,000, double the number. Americans were ready to fight! (sound expression) BUM-BUM-BUUUUUUM!

Today I read the chapter in Americana called "SUBURBIA". It's mostly about houses. A person named Bill Levitt was interested in houses, too, so he started making them. He hired a group of workers, bought some materials, and was ready to go!

After a few tries, he learned that if you want to make money, you have to have an assembly line kind of thing*. So, Levitt started to have his workers move on to different houses like this →workers→workers→workers→ 

Levitt always charged his houses at $7990.00 no matter what. Soon, he was getting a front-page headline on the New York Times! Yahoo!

This proves like always, if you really want to do something, you have to show it. And if you want to show it, you have to put your heart on it. If you want to put your heart on it, you have to actually like the thing you're doing.

*The trick is to have only a group of people doing one thing. for example, if you're making cars, your job is to tighten the bolts. Thats all you do. You don't apply oil or twist the nut counter-clockwise 3 times, you only do your job. That way, it's faster and more efficient. Everybody only has to learn how to do one thing, not like learn a ton of things. Also, the houses are the same size, shape, and color, you just buy like 1 million of those exact parts and save money.
